The Fair Oaks Farms Mistero

When we drive back and forth to Chicago, we sometimes stop at the Fair Oaks Farms “complex” just off I-65 between Lafayette and Chicago. There’s a real farm, a restaurant (shown below), play areas, tours and a gas station next to a convenience store.

The convenience store is a good place to get gas and buy an ice cream cone or use the restrooms. The last time we stopped, we parked directly in front of the convenience store, facing a single (puzzling) white post (lower left) - then we noticed it was one of a line of posts (lower right).

What do you think might be the purpose of these posts? And what is the iron hook for? And the loosely-hanging “wires” or whatever they are - what are they for?

If you have an idea, send it to Grandpa via the Mailto button. If you’d like a couple clues in the form of more information, press the “Tell me more, please” button.
